| Subject: What did you do in the war daddy? AWOL Thu Oct 07, 2010 12:33 pm | |
| http://www.globalsecurity.org/space/facility/shemya.htmThis is the base I was supposed to be transferred to by a screwball non com officer who took over the work station I was at in the USAF, and ran rough shod over the place, and our new captain, who preferred playing golf. The guy tried to break my neck, dropping a heavy manual on my head rom behind, while sitting at my desk, and then asking if I wanted to Hit Him... He was trying to get me out of my job, and get his buddy in. I saw stars, and figured he was setting me up, for much more than getting me out. Maybe into jail if I hit him. It didn't work. Was told to train his friend to do my job testing aircraft fuels. He wasn't doing what was told, and told me He Knew what to do, and that he Out Ranked me. Told my boss Before lunch, and After lunch was out of the job. 3 weeks later got a transfer to an early warning radar station they sent misfits to. I had made rank in mim time, and promoted to the best job in the place. The non com told me it was a Great job, and he had just come back from Alaska. Never heard of the place, and checked, and was told, it was an island in the Pacific, and might be nice, till they checked, and it was the North Pac, Not South. I almost had my neck broken by the ass, and wasn't going to be sent there by him. Only way to get out of it was to get in trouble, since they can't transfer problems for 6 mo, and someone else would have to go. Not my nature, but I took off for a week. AWOL. Came back an was treated like the prodigal son by the captain. I didn't know, while I was gone, the whole day shift went on sick call, and inspectors came to see what happened, and the captain fainted. I was given a Week Off, because I wanted to change jobs, and told to look into it. I couldn't so Quit, not wanting to be involved with the loonies. I refused to do anything told, after doing More than I was told, which got me where I had gotten. They kept me in a yr, to discharge me on my anniversary date, probably so it didn't stand out. A week after I got out, the N Koreans captured the Pueblo, our spy ship, and the whole base was moved to S Korea. | |
