| changing the oil Isn't a warranty thing, and not supposed to be changed for 100K mi, and most Subaru dealers Never heard of the Subaru oil, and if they have to replace it when fixing a trans, they use whatever they get the cheapest that conforms to the specs. There is confusion whether the oil I bought from a Subaru dealer is even put in at the factory. Seems like it Might be put into the high performance model and IS used by the factory racing team. The service mgr at the dealer I bought it from said, it is only necessary if you race the car. Most who use it claim it made the trans shift better, or cured some problem, like grinding when shifting. Only thing I have noticed so far is, that it doesn't balk when shifting into reverse, which is almost worth it. Maybe with it some other things I'd like to improve may happen with more miles on it. Took 2500 mi for some complaints when new to get better. The rebuilder said it takes 10K mi for the trans to break in, so maybe it will take some miles for the new oil to do what some have claimed. One car I had was hard to shift when cold, and an additive with graphite fixed that, so maybe something will solve minor problems if the new oil doesn't, but not something I want to experiment with, though I may just before changing it the next time.
The dealer will sell enough to change the oil in the trans and rear axle, 5 qts, for 13$/qt. Buying 5 gal it costs 7$/qt. The nature of the beast is that what is good for the front axle, isn't so good for some parts in the transmission, if the oil gets too hot, and the sulfur anti wear additive, can turn to sulfuric acid, and they Share the same oil, being in one housing. A rebuilder on line said, the type of oil called for can Half the life of the parts in the transmission. One that is better for the trans, can half the life of the front axle.
With the price difference of buying in bulk, or 150$, that people sell the extra 4 gal if they want to, it was a better deal, and if I change it every yr or so to make sure acids don't form, and don't shorten the life of the trans, it was hard to resist. 35$/yr is insurance if it protects the trans that can cost 3-4K. My old Chevy is 24yrs old, and if the trans went, I wouldn't replace it, but until the motor or trans goes, I'll keep it. The Chevy was a hand me down, and not my choice. The Subaru was my choice.

| new or used cars can still have problems that I like to fix. Had a dealer rebuild the motor in a new car (3K mi) when what it needed was different spark plugs that work better with stop & go driving in the city. Dealer said changing to them would void the warranty. After the rebuild didn't solve the problem, I changed the plugs myself, and solved the problem. My old Chevy developed a problem with the steering when it got cold out, and wouldn't move unless the wheel was turned side to side a few times before driving. They call the condition, Morning Sickness, since you will see it on cold mornings when going to drive the car. A neighbor had the steering replaced in his for 800$. I had been nursing mine for 6 yrs. I found an additive said to cure it. I added some and it helped some, then I flushed the fluid, put new in and added the additive, and it cured it.
Looking for additives for the trans if it doesn't work completely like I want it to with the new oil. Just have to find one that won't hurt things.

| still not feeling very good. Not as bad as last night when I wanted to end the agony, and thought that ending it all would be a way, as long as it wasn't botched. I have been close to the edge a few times, and one time a hound came and laid with me on the sofa, that helped, with the heat from her body, and like she sensed I was in trouble, and came to my aid, and she never did anything like it before. What was funny was, my male hound who I trained to stay off the sofa. Stood at the end, looked at us and Dove in behind me, making me bust out laughing.
Probably recovering from muscle strains, and complications in my stomach probably caused by a muscle spasm.

| if my back is bad I use a cayenne plaster and cure it in 20 min. I don't bother with minor problems that end in a few hrs. Probably should have used it on my stomach but the heating pad was easier.
Slept a bit and made it out to the diner. Didn't feel bad, but not as good as I can. Want to eat but not sure if I should, or what. Brooke was off so must be back to her reg shifts.
Signs in the street say no parking the next few days, at least my end of the street. Wonder what they plan to do? Probably have to move the Subaru, and try to get the spot back in the evening. Probably use it to go shopping and get rid of the used oil. Better get things prepared. Move some things in the entry area. Move the jugs of good oil to somewhere in the basement. Gona have to start using the steps.

| woke at 7 am, and no activity outside. No idea what is planned. On the main street they are doing something to the sidewalk at the corners, breaking them up and cementing. Haven't figured what they are doing.
Still don't feel right. Guess it is the ending of whatever happened. Wonder if it was from something I ate? Ate at sis's Sat, but didn't have a problem till Sun, I think.
Feeling like laying down or even sleeping more. Think I got 5 hrs, which is a good bit continuous for me.

| they were towing cars out of the street. I slept again. Concerned because the Subaru has to be towed on a flat bed tow truck, and they probably wouldn't use one.
Stomach is feeling better, but achey now.

| a lot to do about nothing. Workers finally came and reopened a hole in the street. I think a gas or water service to a house closer to the corner. Maybe they have to work on it again. A back hoe was close to the Subaru, but had enough room to dig. I got dressed and shut everything, expecting to have to move it, but they said it was OK. Now the repair guys might come, though shouldn't need as much room. | |

| and woke feeling spunky. I ate which was good. Guess I'll go to the diner. Brooke should be off, but maybe not. Gona torture that young girl, since we both enjoy it. ))) Would be nice to hook up with her... Don't have much hope with the way I am now, not able to do what I want to easily, Though, got an E from another young waitress who is mad about me.
Got a little done, moving a few gal jugs of gear oil to the basement, and wrapping some tools in Saran wrap so I can put them anywhere, like the basement and dampness doesn't make them rust, AND I can See them, not hidden in opaque bags. Last night I went down to get a jug of used oil to take to recycle, and Couldn't find it. I finally saw it on the saw table, where I had moved it to get other things to go change the trans oil. I moved a lot of stuff looking. Don't need to expend energy uselessly.

| That's what I'm thinking exercise is, unless we don't do enough work in daily life. People try to make work easier, not harder, but if just to have more time to rest or do things that are easy. Unless the work is real hard, and they get a workout from doing it. I like to get exercise from working on something, then I accomplish something from the heart beats. IF the heart is capable of a max # of beats, exercise might be wasting them.
Being an anaerobic type might be the reason. Then I do what I need to working on things. My injury makes that cause pains. People say let others do the things, or get someone to do them. Then I'd be doing less, and Need to exercise, and I'd hurt and not accomplish anything else. If a portion of our life is spent doing aerobics, it seems like treading water.

| have to move money in bank accs, and get my car Ins paid, And have to pay my ISP. Have to get in gear, since I'm not up to it yet. My brain won't shift yet..
Workers came back to put asphalt in the hole in the street they put cement in yesterday, and a big truck came mighty close to the Subaru, having to pull up next to it in a 2 lane street. They bucked traffic to get in 100' from the corner. Parking is so bad around here, i wonder how they backed it out onto a cross street with 3 lanes, and parking on either side? My street T's at the corner. Just remembered my old car is parked on the cross st near where they would have to back up to get out of my street.

| trying to think what I could add to the transmission oil that may make it work the way I want it to if the new oil doesn't solve it eventually? Asking on forums, but no good answers yet. The oil has to be slippery for the gears in the front axle, and create some friction for some parts in the trans to work right, which share the oil. Seems impossible, but I think there is always a solution. Some rear axles have parts in them that need some friction, and should need to be slippery also, which I have to look into, but friction items should cause wear. Guess I'm going to be learning how to solve it. Might be a compromise that works, and doesn't wear the gears and parts too much. | |

| all over again
Just like Sunday. Pain in the side of my back, half way up, then bloated Real Bad. Both times I had eaten something different before. Didn't do much to strain my back this time, that I thought could have caused a musle spasm in my stomach, but in the same location, maybe I reinjured it doing something less strenuous. took bicarb, and anything with salt makes me burp, and reduce the sensations, that are to DIE for. Death looks like a good option as bad as I have felt both times. Hate to put anything in my stomach to try to relieve it, in case it may make it worse. I tried a tiny bit of cayenne, hoping I fould something else it cured fast. Just felt hot in my stomach, I never felt when using it, and felt high in my stomach. I Even tried washing things down with water, to see if it worked better than cola, but it didn't. Thought about going to the ER, like i did yrs ago I had something similar, but got a 800$ bottle of Citrate.
Shut everything that produced sound or light, which caused irritation, and tried the heating pad again, but was getting too warm. Had to get up to pee often with all the liquids i was drinking. Trying to induce burping, I felt like i would upchuck a few times, and thought about trying to bring it on, but thought it might just bring more discomfort, so didn't want to force it. Wanted to sleep to try to escape the sensations, but it wasn't happening, and when I started to, it seemed like it only happened for a min or two. The problem started around 2AM, and not sure when I fell out.
